Pod Azimuth Propeller

This sample illustrates how a fully-parametric pod azimuth marine propeller can be modeled using the Advanced Propeller Workflow.

Load Model

Pod Azimuth Propeller

This type of propeller is called a pod azimuth propeller. The pod refers to a streamlined casing that houses the propulsion system, typically containing an electric motor that directly drives the propeller. The term azimuth indicates its ability to rotate 360 degrees around a vertical axis, providing exceptional maneuverability and eliminating the need for traditional rudders.

It is typically four-bladed, with a wide propeller tip and incorporates a NACA 4-digit profile for the duct.

Below, the Radial Distributions of the baseline design for this propeller type are shown.
